Global reinsurance broker Gallagher Re, has announced the appointment of Robert McMillan as Renewable Energy Practice Leader within its global marine & energy team.McMillan has over three decades of industry experience, and extensive knowledge and experience in the renewable energy sector, in particular onshore and offshore wind.This, said Gallagher Re, will enable the company to build out its client proposition, develop a proprietary view of risk and best support its insurer and MGA clients increasing investment and involvement in renewables.His skillset, the company noted, will complement Gallagher Res existing transactional expertise, where it already has significant experience in placing treaty business for renewables, whether mixed portfolios or standalone programmes.McMillan commented:

He joins the company from Siemens where he spent 16 years - the last ten specialising in the onshore and offshore wind industry, holding a variety of senior management roles. A chartered engineer by profession, with additional project management qualifications and skills in leading multi-disciplinary teams, he most recently served as Global Head of Product Safety and Risk at Siemens, having been Head of Engineering for Wind Power UK and Offshore Product Safety Officer prior to that. Commenting on the appointment, Nick Croxford, Global Head of Marine & Energy at Gallagher Re, said: "Roberts extensive industry experience in renewable energy from product development, through construction and into operation, will serve as the perfect complement to our teams existing strengths and capabilities on the transactional side of risk transfer.
