Aviva has announced the appointment of Holly Ewing as its new head of intermediated distribution.Ewing was most recently head of intermediary sales at AIG Life, having spent 13 years with the insurer.Having started out at MetLife as a business development manager, Ewing joined Ageas in 2009 before its acquisition by AIG. Aviva has appointed Charlotte Nixon as head of strategic accounts for its individual protection business. Nixon will join in January from Quilter Financial Planning where she is proposition and distribution director, mortgage network. She will report into Aviva protection portfolio distribution director Daren Boys. Boys said Nixons appointment would bring her first-hand experience from across both distributor and insurer perspectives to the fore. "She is already well connected across the individual protection industry and has upstream mortgage market insights from her time on the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries board, so she will be an asset to our business working alongside the biggest distributors across the UK market," he added. Nixon said: "I look forward to leading the strategic account management team as they further develop and enhance their already market-leading adviser proposition and support." Stephen Fryett, managing director of Quilter Financial Planning, said: "Charlotte has played an important role in the development of Quilter Financial Plannings mortgage and protection network. "Her leadership has enhanced the support we offer our advisers, helping them to expand their businesses. We wish her success in her new role."

Charlotte is currently the Proposition & Distribution Director for the Mortgage Network at Quilter Financial Planning, a role she began in January 2024. She previously served as the Proposition Director for the Mortgage Network at the same company from January 2019. Prior to that, she was a National Account Manager at Vitality from January 2017 to January 2019. Charlottes career at Personal Touch Financial Services Ltd spanned from January 2013 to January 2017, where she held the position of Senior Protection Manager. Earlier in her tenure at Personal Touch Financial Services Limited, from August 2007 to January 2013, she worked as a Protection Sales Development Manager, Sales Development Assistant, and Account Handler.

Aviva Canada has appointed two senior leaders to its executive leadership team, reporting to CEO Tracy Garrad. Garth Pepper joins as managing director of Aviva business insurance and Pascal Dessureault will become chief public affairs, marketing and communications officer. Pepper is a seasoned insurance veteran in the Canadian and North American specialty and commercial insurance community and will join Aviva Canada on Aug. 6, the insurer said in a press release. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, Pepper was most recently president of the North America middle market and global risk solutions at Liberty Mutual Insurance. "In his new role, Pepper will be responsible for the growth and development of Aviva Canadas small to medium and middle-market commercial insurance business," the insurer says in the release. Dessureault will join Aviva Canada on Aug. 19. "An experienced communications and public affairs leader, Dessureault also has a deep understanding of corporate strategy and ESG [environmental, social and governance principles] within the financial sector." Formerly head of communications and public affairs for commercial banking at HSBC Canada, Dessureault led change communications and government relations strategy for key initiatives across international markets. He positioned the bank as a leader in the net-zero space and in this role, he will be accountable for building on Aviva Canadas reputational and brand strategies. Garrad welcomed the two leaders and said, "their expertise will be key in driving the focus, accountability and agility to execute and deliver our priorities for our customers, brokers and partners." In late July, the insurer announced two well-known former P&C industry execs -- T. Neil Morrison and Carol Jardine -- joined Aviva Canadas board as non-executive directors. Morrison has more than 38 years of experience in the Canadian insurance industry, most recently as managing partner and chairman of the brokerage Platform Insurance Management Inc. Jardine also has extensive Canadian insurance experience, most recently as the former president of Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Companys Canadian P&C operations.
